I hadn't gone for about probably two months now, but because I had to bartend yesterday, I decided that I might as well play. It turned out to be a good idea and I came away with $60! Armand and Stoyka were able to leave on Thursday after we experienced our first storm condition 1 of the season on Wednesday, which prevented us from visiting the lab one last time before they left. I've just been keeping busy doing the regular routine. This has been one of the harder weeks in Alert that I've had because of a close friend leaving last week. The 6 month mark of my tour will be in two weeks and it's hard to believe that I'm already starting to think abit about my holiday, which I'll probably take in two months. Well, I guess that's it for now. Take care, Maria Maria Vavro Alert Baseline Operator Hi, On the final day that Armand and Stoyka would have been able to go to the lab, luck had it that a storm would occur. We knew it was very windy out, however we didn't find out just how bad it was until we drove half way to the lab. At this point, on top of a hill, and to the left of a deep valleye, the wind pounded our truck with so much loose snow that only the headlights were visible. In a final effort to keep going, we just decided to turn around and go back, an even harder feat to do.... I had to escape the vehicle, walk the perimeter to check for rocks and dangers, just so I could turn the vehicle around. We ended driving at a slow pace most of the way back, two back seat drivers providing two more pairs of eyes for safety. All in all it was a fun experience, since we made it safe, although Stoyka, I'm sure, would have still rather made it to the lab to finish her work.. Cheers Chad Guertin, Assistant Baseline Operator
