But, I have to warn you that there are ALOT of glitches in it still (after all it's my first website and it's definitley a learning process). The "contact me" page has a few problems, but that should be sorted out in a week or two. I'm told if you have high-speed internet access, then the pictures download okay. However, if you don't, because the pictures are shown in a slideshow format, you may have trouble viewing them. I may change this and get rid of the slideshow altogether because it can take awhile to look through all of the pictures. Within the next week, I'll be adding descriptions to each photo as well, but for now, I just wanted to get the actual site up and running. So, I hope everyone enjoys it! It's got to be "the best website ever done by an Alert operator"- hey, do I sound like anyone? :) Other than that, the usual activities have been happening around station and it actually feels like morale is picking up again- good timing for before the holidays. We had a Souper des Nobles on Saturday and I went with one of sergeants I flew up with in June. It was a great time as usual, but mainly because all the Nobles were people that have been here since the beginning of my tour and who I consider to be my good friends in Alert. Afterwards, Vimy threw a Toga Party in the Arctic Club and it was a good time for everyone because of the strong turnout. Also, there have been posters going up for the showtour that will be here in the middle of December. That's something different to look forward to. Well, I suppose that's it for now. Hope everyone is doing well now that winter is starting to arrive (or so I here). Take care, Maria Maria Vavro Alert Baseline Operator Hi, I'm down to my 3 week mark now and i'm looking forward to home. Christmas will sure be sweeter if I can have it in the traditional way and not the Alert way. At this point I'm starting to pay attention to small milestones, such as; today is the last day I have to do a Toxics blank. This saturday Vimy hosted an after soup-de-nobles party at the Arctic Club and it turned out to be quite a success. Many people showed up, we made some money for the house and of course we all had fun.... There were many hurting faces the next day at breakfast. Lately i've been refraining from doing my regular activities such as hockey, euchre and the almost daily get-togethers for the simple reason that it was becoming a little too routine. And plus I don't mind all the free time. However, i believe that this week I will get back to doing these things so I can end my tour on a positive note, and keep myself busy again. I have kept working out on a regular basis to burn off all the meals that I make myself a "gourmand" at. At least that keeps me in shape. I'm off for now. Cheers Chad Guertin, Assistant Baseline Operator
