Jim, who here is for Iceshelf, and another person were working down near the airfield when they spotted it. They hopped on their skidoos to scare it away and managed to chase it toward the lakes. There haven't been any other signs of it since, so hopefully it's long gone by now. I would love to see a polar bear from a safe distance just for the photo opportunity, but for obvious reasons, it's probably better if I don't, especially when Frank and I are alone out at the lab! The station is a little busier again because most of the scientists (most, if not all, are American) that were supposed to be out at the Iceshelf camp are now setting up their instruments here and going off during the day to collect their samples by helicopter. I still have to get to know the pilots abit better and see if I can persuade them to take me for a ride :) Souper des Nobles was last night and Frank and I decided to help serve. It was a blast! I actually may have had more fun serving than attending. However, I did tell Frank that it's tradition for students to take the operator, so it looks like I may get to go to the next one. It's hard to believe that mine will be coming up soon... okay, well, in 3+ months, but that's relatively soon! That's it for now... Hope all is well in Downsview, Maria Maria Vavro GAW Lab Operator
