The military had yesterday off because of all the overtime most of them had put in for the Governor General's visit, as well as it being St. Jean Baptiste Day. TGIF was re-scheduled to Thursday afternoon and it was time for me to say goodbye to Frank since he'll be leaving next week. We both managed to crack each other up by exchanging joke gifts. After my little goodbye speal about his own work and at the lab and how we got along and all that kind of thing, I mentioned how over the year I've seen a handful of individuals receive CO Commendations for their hardwork or even for improving morale on station. So, I announced that I had written a "GAW Lab Operator's Commendation" for Frank and well, I was laughing too hard to read it, so the SWO graciously stepped in and took over for me. Basically it was just a spoof and I just mentioned most of the things we joke around about. So, after Frank said his goodbye speech, he brought out an award that he had made. About a month ago, we were given a box of 50 pogos in our growlie box for the lab where it's just the two of us to eat them. So we started joking about having Pogofests and how many pogos we could eat at one time (yes, this is the kind of thing we joke about... Alert humour took over a long time ago) at the lab, so he ended up making a Pogo Award with three wooden pogos sticking out of a wooden base, which was engraved with Pogo Queen 2005 and that I had eaten 500 pogos in 6 months instead of the typical 500 km fitness award (and no, I didn't actually eat 500 pogos!). Last night, a bonfire was started for St. Jean Baptiste Day and a good size crowd gathered for it. Tonight it's the Souper des Nobles, which should be a good time as usual. Brad is scheduled to arrive in a week and a half and I know him and Andrew are heading out to Bratt's Lake for some training this week. I'm still finding it hard to believe that my tour will be coming to an end in a little over a month, but I know that I'll be ready to leave by that time. Well, that's it for now... Hope all is well in Downsview, Maria Maria Vavro GAW Lab Operator
