His official reason for being here was to gain a better understanding of the logistical issues involved with running a high arctic listening station, but in reality he was he to take a helicopter ride out to a nearby island which has become the topic of a territorial dispute between Canada and Denmark. So he and his wife came up and took a four hour helicopter ride, slept, and were gone the next day by around noon. Also this week was the removal of the to 80m tall antenna towers near the old TX building. Almost every vehicle on base (including a bus) drove up the road to Dean Hill to see Frank take the towers down with a couple of kilograms on C4. The blast was fairly impressive, and there was even a substantial echo off Dean Hill and Mount Pullen. Maria and I did go back to the lab afterwards to make sure everything was fine. A bunch of the linemen spent the next day cleaning up all the debris, and as of Saturday morning I think they were done. Saturday was also the day of the annual softball tournament, and they could not have picked a better day for it. Until next week, Brad
