On Wednesday morning just past midnight the power went out on station, and subsequently the APU at the Old TX site started up and handled the power output to the lab for about 15 minutes until the main power system came back online. At approximately 1am a power plant tech drove up to the TX to check on the APU, and for some reason there was a power blip at that time which hit the Lab. When Maria and I arrived at the lab several of the systems were offline, but most of the issues were a matter of simply resetting the breakers. The only real casualty of the day was one of Armand's black carbon air pumps. It took us a while to realize that the Hi-Vol samplers were out (and another while to find the breaker for them) but eventually we go them back online too. All of the Boxtop people are in now, and the 24/7 flights start tonight. It's nice to have a few new faces around base but I'm still in a bad mood after hearing that basketball and soccer have been replaced in the boxtop Olympics by sort of mind games. Everything else is going well. It was 15 degrees on Wednesday, but has cooled off a lot since. Maria and I put the Ford into temporary storage in the new TX site. It would have been fine starting outside for another month but we wanted to set precedent on a good parking spot now while it was available. Until next week, Brad
