Early in the week, we had to switch out the compressor for the Nitrogen generator in the lab because the current one is in need of servicing. We weren't able to complete this right away due to needing an electrician to come out to the lab and work out some trouble we were having getting it running. Either way, there's a 5 hour warm-up time to get this thing running, so we had to hang around out there waiting for this to start up properly and switch over from tanked Nitrogen. In the meantime we were completing listed tasks, and in the process of checking and replacing the filters on the old Toxics system it was discovered that the pump motor had blown. There was some deliberation as to whether we were qualified to replace the motor as it required wiring up a new one and we were both lacking in experience with three-phase motors. In the end we hauled the dead motor, which reeked of an electrical short, down from the top of the lab tower, wired up the replacement, and got it all hooked up and running. Yeha. Late in the week, there was also a wonderful experience with trying to site in the brewers and a sudden windstorm. Brad was cleaning the drive plates and getting ready to site in the brewers when he discovered on of the trackers to be loaded with snow because it wasn't sealed properly. As he was trying to clean up this mess, a sudden windstorm blew in, and winds went from 3m/s to 12m/s in a few minutes and stayed there for a number of hours as we struggled to get this all cleared up and running again. All in all, I hate working in high wind, it's very frustrating and angering. Until next week's adventures, -Karl
