Gloria made it here on Wednesday night. The plane was originally delayed for 24h, but was diverted from Thule and had to come right to Alert on Wednesday. Since her arrival Gloria's been working away on some tracker issues, Brad and I have been keeping at our usual tasks. The Nephelometer made it back from some repairs due to water damage caused by extreme weather conditions (winds in excess of 100km/h forcing snow into the lab). Brad set that back up and gave it a hood to help protect against any moisture blowing into the lab again. Low and behold! That very same night winds suddenly picked up to 100km/h! Fortunately no damage to the Neph. Whew! The Sunrise Carnival was on Friday. There were a bunch of games, blind volleyball, snowshoes racing, egg toss, and the carnival King and Queen. The king and queen being female and male respectively. I was the queen for Vimy House... apparently a pretty good looking one I'm told. I found this surprisingly disturbing and quickly reverted back to my male apparel at first chance. Sorry, no picture. Temperatures have been relatively warm and usually calm winds, so I'm gonna take a crack at some biking this coming week. I'll let you know how that goes. -Karl
