SHIPPING Shipping Received: Shipping Sent: MAIL Mail Received: Mail Sent: Alert Weekly News I'm Julie, the new co-op student, and I will be taking over for Karl. It was my first time on a herc tuesday, and not to bad of a ride. When we left trenton it was a similar feeling to a roller coaster. After take off, the ride wasn't too bad and the box lunches were actually good. It was beautiful in Thule sunny and only -10, because of box top we could not stay the night there, but at least i got a glimpse of greenland! I arrived in Alert around 10:00pm and it was SUNNY! It felt like noon! We were greeted coming off the plane, and i got to meet a ton of new people at the Wolf's Den. It was hard adjusting to the 24 hour sunlight but after being here a couple of days i'm fine. Wednesday was the first trip to the lab and my first time driving the truck, which was hard in the fog, but I only managed to go off the road a couple times. I helped Karl perform his daily tasks, and got a tour of the Lab. Because of the fog, Karl and Andrew's flight was postponed, and they ended up staying here a couple extra days, which was good for me because I had Karl still to train me. Friday was TGIF, and everyone ate dinner together in the Arctic club, we played a game of pass the ace after, which I some how won, and then all headed over to a party at chimo. Saturday afternoon, Andrew and Karl finally got a flight back home, and there was an information meeting regarding the furture plans for CFS Alert. Later that evening, I headed over to the House of Chef beach party, which was beach themed ( not actually at the beach), and there were some great costumes! My first week here was great, and i'm sure it will only get better. - Julie
