Dave's and Richard's plane finally made it in this past friday but not after attempting landing a few times because of fog, going back to Thule and then trying back in Alert later that day. Both Environment Canada employees are now happily setting up their instruments at the lab this weekend. This past Friday I had the remarkable idea of taking the new truck on wheels to the lab since the snow seemed little and packed, but close to the TX building I got stuck...I had no choice but call in the maintenance guys for a hand with their B-V vehicles. That cost me a few bells and the chicken award during the CHIMO meeting. Saturday Gabe and I felt that it was wise not to disturb Dave and Richard with their work by being on their way at the lab, so we decided to go for a hike to Mount Pullen, 6 km. away and a 500m climb. The day was bright, the skyes were clear, the view was imposing and magnificent, the solitude undisturbed, but the temperatures reached close to -20 Celsius and the snow was thick and deep. Satisfying was however to reach the top and look at the CFS base to the West and Greenland glaciers to the East. Cheers, Lee
