Monday October 29, 2007 - Sunday November 4, 2007 (302-j - 308j) Prepared: Sunday November 4, 2007 ***********Highlights of the Week*************** *Power line to lab (from base) has lost a phase. Main power may be restored to lab this week (fingers crossed). ***********Highlights of the Week*************** THINGS WE NEED: *The items will be left on the list until they are physically received in Alert.* - 0.3 Amp mini fuses for Radon instruments - Set of jumper cables - Stirr oil for NaOH motor and hollow glass shaft. - Complete Burn Kit and First Aid Kit Please note: Inventories are current as of the date the report is written unless stated otherwise. AEROSOL PROGRAM *308j - calibration of aerosol flow controllers done from 1745z to 1930z (by Dave Halpin) - stack rotometer cleaning to be done @ 2015, back inline @ 2021z as there was not sufficient time Aethalometer 1 O.K. PSAP Program *302j - PSAP did not automatically recommence logging after filter change, manually reset data logging @ 1849z. *will now be checking if PSAP is logging on laptop after fitler changes O.K. Nephelometer *302j - PMT tubes and circuit boards in top of nephelometer reseated @ 1856z, aerosols computer rebooted right afterwards. *304j - cpd did not appear to be reading neph. values and laptop was restarted @ 1935z. This had no effect. *307j - nephelometer switched off and sample inlet and outlet disconnected from 1730z to 1820z to adjust internal circuit boards and PMTs. O.K. Black carbon filter pack O.K. CNC Counter O.K. Alert High Volume Sampler O.K. Last Blank: 302j, 2007 8 filter(s) in inventory Toxics Sampler *306j - blown fuse replaced for toxics timer @ 1958z, had blown the day before (305j) while testing a pump on that circuit. Only a 6 amp fuse was replaced instead of 15 amp as we did not have the correct one. Appears to be working fine, last checked on 308j. - As a result of blown fuse for timer, the timer count for this weeks sample will be off, this was noted accordingly in the sample log. O.K. 4 PUF filters, 2 Blank(s), 7 GFF(s) 3 Toxics case(s) remaining in inventory Last blank: 281j, 2007. PS-1 PUF Sampler O.K. PAN GC pumps lost power momentarily but back on @ 1804z. O.K. CH4/CO2/N2O/SF6/CO GC *306j - GC displayed error that back detector flame was out. However when attempting to re-ignite, flame was already on. Possibly re-ignited itself? *out of P-5 O.K. CFC 11, 12, 13 GC O.K. (malfunctioning pump, cause unknown: mass flow controller, flow restriction?) Ambient air (012): *306j - 012 placed in idle mode @ 1919z as sample volumes were low, possible problem with pump. *307j - 012 sample pump appeared to be working properly during H/W test. The instrument was placed back on continuous sampling @ 1726z and the flow monitored closely. *308j - 012 placed back in idle mode @ 1730z as sample volume once again dropped. *Baseline Dev. back to reasonable values but pump keeps failing after calibrations. O.K. RGM Unit, 1130 0016, 2537A (040): 304j - 040 placed in idle mode @ 1840z for the following changes: - quartz filter - zero air filter - RPF - denuder - impactor frit flip - all heating and zero air on @ 1900z - all cooling and zero air on @ 1931z - all switches back to auto and continuous sampling resumed @ 1944z. - 040 clock reset, was behing ~1.5 mins.
